Norman
Rockwell is one of the greatest Victorian artist that most people know.
His workings were started for the Saturday Evening Post and other
portraits he created. Norman Rockwell is one of my mother's favorite artists,
and I am sure he has won the hearts of many others. For those that do not
know, his paintings are of real people in real life situations. Most of
these are my favorite art works. I hope you enjoy your peek at Norman Rockwell's
famous paintings.
"Sunset"
This painting is, as
you can plainly see, two small children being boyfriend and girlfriend.
Already acting adult like, a little boy comes back from fishing to hand
his "girl" two daisies and a romantic evening watching the sun slowly fall.
The boy's dog watches, carefully, over the fishing pole for his young master.
Who knew that children so young could understand most of the meaning of
love? Everyone says to the younger generation that they couldn't possibly
know what "love" is. But, does it not show in this photo that some actually
do? Well, think back to when you first feel in love. Do you think you knew
what your definition of love was? This art work was made in April 24, 1926.
"No Swimming"
This little girl knows
that three little boys, and their dog, decided to take their "dip" in the
'no swimming' pond. She knows that it's not right to stare and plains not
to. Walking by covering her eyes just enough to not see the nude full scene.
But, sudden as soon as the little girl has left, the three boys around
found. They must quickly gather their belongings, and book home before
they are more than just found. Ever do something you weren't supposed to
and get caught? Well, how about seen something that was being done that
wasn't right? Most of us have had one or both happen. The first "NO SWIMMING"
was the three little boys in the year of 1921. While the little girl in
June 15, 1929.
"The Runaway"
Watch out little runaway,
you might get caught! This little fellow is sure ready for his "run around
the world", would you not agree? From the portrait, do you believe that
the officer knows this small boy is running away? Do you think that the
police will bring him home, if he know? Those stools so shinny and looking
so new to the eye. This painting was constructed on September 20, 1958.
That is about as new as those stools. I would love to go to a restaurant
that looks like that, wouldn't you?
"Triple Self Portrait"
Norman Rockwell also loved
to paint about himself. His pieces of work always so delicate, but so realistic.
Even in his old age could he paint like never before. Norman was very much
into his work, and he liked the fact that he was making others happy with
it. This painting was prepared on February 13, 1960. I believe that this
was one of my favorite pieces of art, because it showed the real Norman
Rockwell.
Other Portraits
I have collected quite
a few of Norman Rockwell's paintings, and would very much like to share
them with you. Here are a few links, and I will change the pictures as
often as I am able. I hope you enjoyed your look into a very loved artist.
